The Plantation Division
is primarily involved in the planting of oil palm and processing of crude palm oil into palm products. The Groupís plantation operations are carried out on its own holding, as well as on leases with Al-Hadharah Boustead REIT through Boustead Holdings Berhad and Boustead Plantations Berhad, a non-listed subsidiary.

Taking the lead in estate management

The Groupís plantation assets are managed by Boustead Estates Agency Sdn. Bhd. (BEASB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Boustead Holdings Berhad. BEASB manages a total of 82,403 hectares of agricultural land, of which 69,069 hectares are planted with oil palm.

Today, BEASB is one of the leading estate management agencies in the region providing a complete range of management services and solutions including engineering consultancy, design, construction and marketing for oil palm estates, mills and rubber factories.

Utilising advanced technologies to stay ahead, BEASB, via its associate company, Applied Agricultural Resources Sdn. Bhd. (AAR) also provides agricultural research and advisory services.

Additionally, AARís brand new and state-of-the-art oil palm tissue culture lab is leading the way globally in the tissue culture clonal propagation of oil palm. The laboratory, situated in Ijok, Selangor, is the first and largest of its kind in the world and possibly boasts the largest area of clonal planting globally.

Our Molecular Laboratory known as the AAR-UNMC Biotechnology Research Centre (BRC) was opened on 29 September 2009. The BRC is located adjacent to the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, Semenyih. The overall and primary goal of the AAR biotechnology unit is to develop biotechnological tools that are rapid, sensitive and reliable to support and compliment our crop, improvement and agronomic research programme, which encompass oil palm breeding, tissue culture, pest and diseases and agronomy.

Going beyond for future growth

The Groupís Plantation Division continues to move forward to enhance growth by tapping prospects locally and abroad.

Toward this end, the Group has been actively investing in Sarawak through joint ventures with the Land Custody and Development Authority and Pelita Holdings Sdn. Bhd. of Sarawak.

Other notable company within the Plantation Division is Boustead REIT Managers Sdn. Bhd., a company responsible for the management and administration of Al-Hadharah Boustead REIT, an Islamic plantation-based real estate investment trust (REIT).
