RM2 MILLION PONDOK
POLIS FOR MUTIARA DAMANSARA
KUALA LUMPUR, March 6, 2006 - Mutiara Rini Sdn Bhd (Mutiara Rini) is steadfast in its commitment to corporate social responsibility. The property development company continues to look for ways to enhance the infrastructure of its development projects for the benefit of residents. In line with this, the latest initiative by the developer is the construction of a state-of-the art pondok polis which would serve to address the safety needs of the modern and burgeoning township of Mutiara Damansara.
Built at a cost of over RM2 million by Mutiara Rini, the pondok polis was officially handed over to the Inspector General of Police, YDH Tan Sri Mohd Bakri bin Hj. Omar by YBhg. Gen (R) Tan Sri Dato' Mohd Ghazali Hj Che Mat, Chairman, Boustead Holdings Berhad, the parent company of Mutiara Rini Sdn Bhd.
Additionally, YDH Tan Sri Mohd Bakri also received a brand new Proton Juara as well as selected office furnishings contributed by Proton Edar Sdn Bhd and IKEA respectively for the use of the personnel at the pondok polis.
YBhg Tan Sri Dato' Lodin Wok Kamaruddin, Group Managing Director, Boustead Holdings Berhad who is also present at the ceremony said, "We are glad to note that the overall crime level, particularly petty theft in this locale is indeed minimal. Nevertheless, we are aware that visibility of enforcement will be a greater deterrent and by virtue of this we have taken the lead to invest in this base. We also believe that this effort would help to defray the cost of setting-up a police structure and to some extent will assist the Federal Government in its crime prevention programme."
Work on the pondok polis commenced in August 2004 and was completed in the third quarter of 2005. Built on a half acre lot, it features various amenities including a lobby, office space, filing room, conference room, lock up cell and ammunitions room among others.
However, its point of differentiation lies in the fact that the project also includes living quarters. A total of 12 apartments are housed in two four-storey blocks for the convenience of Class-G Polis Diraja Malaysia personnel who are stationed at the base. The three roomed apartment also feature a living area, dining area, work space, kitchen and two bathrooms.
"As a progressive developer, we are cognisant of the requirements of our homeowners and as such are fully committed to enhance the infrastructure of Mutiara Damansara. This police base is the latest in a long line of initiatives that we have carried out todate and through this base we hope to facilitate and ensure that issues related to safely are addressed," he continued.
"Mutiara Damansara is gaining mindshare among homeowners and investors for its hosts of offerings. As such, we look forward to working alongside the police to ensure our surroundings are safe and conducive for all residents and visitors."
"Having said that, we have not forgotten to address the needs of the police personnel stationed here. For their convenience, we have gone one step further and constructed living quarters for our policemen and their families. With this added convenience we hope these officers have peace of mind and are able to carry out their duties more efficiently and productivity," YBhg. Tan Sri Lodin concluded.
