Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia launches the curve
After operating for almost two years, the Curve, Malaysia’s first pedestrianised shopping mall was officially launched on 1 December 2006 amidst much excitement and fanfare.
The ceremony was officiated by YAB Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Hj Abdul Razak, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.Some 680 corporate guests, tenants, and employees of Boustead Holdings Berhad (BHB) were also present at the event.
The ceremony started with a welcome address by YBhg Gen (R) Tan Sri Dato’ Mohd Ghazali Hj Che Mat, Chairman of BHB followed by a speech from Dato’ Sri Najib. He later signed his name on a plaque to mark the occasion. This was followed by a performance from Indonesian evergreen top artiste, Bob Tutupoli.
The night also saw the Curve awarding its tenants under various categories from the most innovative concept store award to pioneer tenant award. To round up the evening, Dato’ Sri Najib made a short tour of the Curve and later officially opened The Royale Bintang Damansara Hotel.
In conjunction with the launch, a Street Party was also organised by the hotel at the Piazza of the Curve, which was attended by Bousteadians and their families and friends. Local artistes including Alleycats performed to entertain all the visitors there.
The night ended with a spectacular fireworks display capping off the Curve’s official launch and as a big bang welcome to the Christmas season.
Also present at the colourful ceremony include YB Datuk Hj Mohd Shafie Apdal, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and YBhg Tn Hj Mohamad Roslan Sakiman, the Mayor of Petaling Jaya City Council.
